Minnesota DNR in Search of New Advisory Committee Members

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is recruiting new members to serve on 10 different advisory committees related to hunting and fisheries management, the Game and Fish Fund and Natural Heritage Advisory Committee. The National Deer Association (NDA) strongly encourages our Minnesota members and supporters to consider serving the state’s fish, wildlife and habitat by directly engaging in the wildlife management process. Specifics regarding committee openings and appointments are listed below, and interested individuals can sign up on the Engage with DNR website.

Natural Heritage Advisory Committee

This committee focuses on sustaining the state’s natural heritage, biological diversity and ecosystem services. DNR is looking for recommendations to help protect high quality prairies, forest, wetlands and other habitats. New committee members serve three-year terms on this advisory team. The deadline to apply is October 17th. Interested applicants can apply online and learn more here.

Game and Fish Fund

The Fisheries Oversight and the Wildlife Oversight Committees help to review how the DNR spends funds from the Game and Fish Fund each fiscal year. These committees report to a separate budgetary committee, which analyzes committee reviews to create an annual report and spending recommendations. The deadline to apply is September 19th. Hunting and Fisheries Management

There are also several openings to advise the DNR on a variety of fish and wildlife topics:

Members will serve two or three-year terms and must commit to attending three to four video conference meetings annually. The deadline to apply to any of the above advisory teams is September 18th. Interested applicants can also learn more and apply online here.
